Four Commas eateries are in a soft launch as the long-anticipated food hall prepares to open inside the Ellsworth Place mall in downtown Silver Spring.
The vendors currently open include TATO’s, which offers loaded fries, wedges, and baked potatoes; family-owned D.C. Tex-Mex restaurant J&J Mex-Taqueria, which also has a stall at Solaire Social; Nepalese dumpling eatery Momo Hub; and C³ (Commas Cocktail Bar), which serves beer, wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages.
Additional eateries will open over the coming weeks as final inspections and permitting allow, according to mall representative Jenn Buonanotte. Of the twelve total spaces at Commas, only three remain available and are marked as “coming soon” on the food hall’s signage.
The MoCo Show was the first to report on the “super soft” opening.
Commas is located in the space formerly occupied by F21 Red, which closed in 2019 on the third level of Ellsworth Place. The food hall’s opening, originally slated for late 2023, has been delayed several times due to various issues related to the space’s renovation and construction.
Additional vendors opening in the coming weeks include Asian eatery MV Asian Kitchen, Caribbean street food spot The Champs Kitchen, Persian eatery 6 Skewers, seafood restaurant Claude Have Mercy, and Tokoa Cheesesteaks from College Park.
