Former DoubleTree Location at 8727 Colesville Rd. Ends Operations as Hotel Silver Spring Shuts Down

Hotel Silver Spring, located at 8727 Colesville Road, has permanently closed.

The downtown Silver Spring hotel closed on May 29, according to the Labor Heritage Foundation. The D.C.-based nonprofit had intended for the hotel to host attendees of its annual Great Labor Arts Exchange, scheduled for June 20-22 at the Silver Spring Civic Building at Veterans Plaza.

Hotel Silver Spring had previously operated under the DoubleTree by Hilton brand but was renovated and rebranded in 2023. The building’s ownership stayed the same, but the conversion of the nearby Sheraton hotel at 8777 Georgia Ave. to a DoubleTree location seemingly forced the change.

The building was also previously home to the beloved Sergio Ristorante Italiano, which closed in 2020.

While Hotel Silver Spring’s website at thehotelsilverspring.com remains active, its social media accounts have been removed, and the hotel’s reservation system currently displays an “invalid request” error.
