Mandalay Restaurant & Café is seeking community support due to a significant decline in customer traffic resulting from the Maryland Purple Line construction in downtown Silver Spring.
The Burmese eatery opened a new takeout and delivery location at the Ivy City Food Works last week.
Owner Joe Myint said in an Instagram post on Monday night that the community’s patronage of its locations this summer is crucial for Mandalay to remain open.
Dear Mandalay Family,
Since we reopened in 2022, your support has been crucial to sustaining the Silver Spring restaurant. We recently opened a new carry out location in lvy City while maintaining limited dine-in and carry out in Silver Spring.
We have come to a fork in the road. Due to Purple Line constrution on Bonifant Street, dine- in and carry out traffic has slowed considerably. As with all new openings, we’re experiencing some growing pains in Ivy City.
I am asking for your continued support of Mandalay Restaurant.
The Silver Spring location remains open and ready to serve you. The Ivy City location has a full menu and will enable our DC customers to order their favorite dishes from a closer location.
This summer, your patronage is crucial for Mandalay to remain open and serve you as we have for nearly 30 years.
Mandalay Restaurant & Café is located at 930 Bonifant St. in downtown Silver Spring and online at mandalayrestaurantcafe.com.
