A new sushi and ramen spot is planned for the former Cubano’s Restaurant in downtown Silver Spring.
According to “coming soon” signage posted at the restaurant, Momiji Sushi Izakaya & Japanese Ramen is opening across from Mi Rancho at 1201 Fidler Lane. The opening timeline is currently unknown.
The restaurant is taking over the former home of Cubano’s Restaurant, a longstanding restaurant that permanently closed last summer after being temporarily closed for renovations.
Last fall, the 4,632-square-foot building was placed on the market for $2.75 million.
According to the BizBuySell listing from Jim McGinnis of The Restaurant Broker, the building was constructed in 1942 and has a triple-net lease rate of $14,000 per month.
There is another Momiji Restaurant located on H St. NW in D.C.’s Chinatown neighborhood, but whether the two locations are connected is unclear.
