Two local events, Chalk Fest and the Montgomery County Youth Media Festival, are scheduled for Saturday in downtown Silver Spring.
The third annual Chalk Fest will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. along Ellsworth Drive between Fenton Street and Georgia Ave. and will feature the refreshed 350-foot “Sweet Network” street mural from Chalk Riot.
Attendees can enjoy a full day of chalk art creations by local artists and groups, a kids’ creative corner, alfresco dining options, and visit the Downtown Silver Spring tent for a chance to win a $100 Dog Haus Biergarten gift card and four Regal Majestic movie passes.
Additionally, the first 25 customers to purchase $100 or more at selected stores during Chalk Fest will receive a free $20 Uniqlo or Nike Unite gift card.
More information on Chalk Fest is available online at downtownsilverspring.com.
Around the corner from Chalk Fest, the 2025 Montgomery County Youth Media Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center at 8633 Colesville Road.
Hosted annually by local nonprofit Action Youth Media, which rebranded from Gandhi Brigade in 2023, this year’s festival saw a record-breaking 862 film submissions and over 300 films selected.
The festival will showcase twenty-five film finalists, feature fourteen artists’ artworks, and collect non-perishable food and baby supplies for Food Justice DMV.
The Montgomery County Youth Media Festival is free to attend with an RSVP. More information is available online at youthmediamd.org.
