A smartphone photo of a Silver Spring landmark is one of 34 selected for exhibition in the 4th International Phone-ography Competition.

The photo is of the mosaic displayed under the Metro overpass above Georgia Avenue. Ralph Blessing, who lives a few blocks south of Silver Spring in Washington, D.C, took the shot back in January using a Motorola moto z.

The competition, sponsored by fotofoto Gallery, a nonprofit organization in Huntington, N.Y., was open to anyone 18 years of age or older, and the entries were limited only to those photos shot with a camera on a phone.

The gallery “was founded in October 2003 by a group of Long Island based photographers desiring to promote experimental and traditional photographic processes and visions,” according to the organization’s website.

The exhibition opened on Aug. 1 and will run through Aug. 25. The selected photos also can be viewed online.
