FVCBank Closes Silver Spring Location

FVCBank has permanently closed its branch at 7901 Eastern Ave. in Silver Spring, according to bank president Trish Ferrick.

The community bank, based in Fairfax, had closed all of its branches due the pandemic, she said, while accepting night deposits and electronic banking.

“We realized we could function without the entire branch network,” Ferrick said, adding that the pandemic had changed the way many companies do business.

Currently, the company operates nine branches in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. The Silver Spring branch was formerly a Columbo Bank, which FVCBank took over in 2018.

“It was larger than we needed,” Ferrick said, to serve what she called a loyal customer base.

“We feel we can continue to serve them in the Bethesda branch,” she added, which is located at 6929 Arlington Rd.

The Eastern Avenue location officially closed on Oct. 1.
