Three Restaurants, Nonprofit Founder Receive Rammy Honors

Three area restaurants — All Set Restaurant & Bar, The Girl & The Vine, and Donut Run — as well as Feed The Fridge founder Mark Bucher — received honors at the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington’s 2021 Rammy Awards presented Sunday.

Police Investigating Fraud in Silver Spring

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department’s 2nd District Patrol Investigations Unit are investigating the July 12 and July 15 reports of fraud at an apartment building in the 1900 block of East-West Highway. Investigators are releasing surveillance video of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help to identify her.

Meals On Wheels Marks 50th Anniversary, Adds Vegetarian Options

Meals on Wheels of Takoma Park/Silver Spring marked its 50th anniversary, adding vegetarian meal options for its area clients. The organization began hearing of the demand from its clients, who are homebound neighbors regardless of their age or income level, and have added the menu items to meet those needs.

Zinnia Announces October 1 Opening

Zinnia will open its doors on Friday, October 1, the restaurant announced on its Instagram account last evening. The new restaurant from Takoma Bev. Co. owner Chris Brown will open at the former location of Mrs. K’s Toll House, at the intersection of Colesville Road and Dale Drive in Silver Spring.

Harvest Moon Festival at Veterans Plaza

Silver Spring Town Center Inc. will be hosting the 8th Annual Harvest Moon Festival tomorrow (Sunday, September 19) from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Veterans Plaza in downtown Silver Spring.
