County releases request for proposals for former Silver Spring library site

The county’s Department of General Services has issued a Request for Development Proposals to reuse the old Silver Spring Library site at 8901 and 8907 Colesville Road. The RFDP asks that proposers provide senior housing, with a minimum of 30 percent of the units affordable for households at or below 60 percent of the area’s median income. Mattress store coming to downtown Silver Spring

A building permit has been issued to Mattress Firm to remodel the space on the corner of Colesville Road and Fenton Street formerly occupied by American Apparel. Construction began last week on the store, which will offer a variety of mattresses, adjustable beds, massage chairs, bedroom furniture and accessories such as pillows and bedding.
