A Silver Spring mother who, together with her child, were part of a missing persons case earlier this year is now wanted in a criminal case, according to county police. Ashley Spicer, age 35, has been charged with parental abduction of her nine-year-old daughter Israel “Kali” Burk; there is a now a warrant out for Spicer’s arrest.

The county’s Department of Transportation is cautioning residents and businesses that pandemic-related restrictions on personnel could slow the department’s response in areas affected by a winter storm. Crews began arriving Tuesday to pretreat area roads with salt brine to prevent frost and ice from forming, making snow removal easier. The county policy is to start clearing about 5,200 miles of county-maintained roads when the snow reaches three inches in depth.
The County Council today approved County Executive Marc Elrich’s Executive Order 139-20AM2 that eliminates indoor dining and provides other restrictions, effective at 5 p.m. today (Dec. 15). Outdoor dining, carry-out, delivery and drive-through food service may continue, though outdoor dining is prohibited between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. under an existing order from Gov. Larry Hogan.

Takoma Park Mayor Kate Stewart has issued a statement in response to news of a Takoma Park police officer’s arrest for sexual abuse of a minor. Citing court documents, WJLA-TV last week reported that 42-year-old Eric Mueller had been arrested in a case involving a 17-year-old female juvenile that occurred shortly before Thanksgiving.
