CANCELED - The Adventures of Mono Liso Children’s Theater

From silent World War I films to World War II Disney cartoons created for the U.S. government and on through the Cold War, cartoons have been used as propaganda tools that entertain while seeking to mold public opinion, sometimes in more subtle or blatant ways. Vintage Movie Night host and film historian Richard Hall will lead a free screening of propaganda cartoons filmed over the past century with political, social, or commercial messages.

María Elena Walsh was an Argentine writer, poet, and singer who entertained generations of children with whimsical songs and books. Like all children in Argentina, local performers and educators Cecilia Esquivel and Laura Quiroga grew up with Walsh’s music. In this heartfelt tribute, the performers imagine the adventures of the famous Mono Liso as he searches for his wandering orange.
