The Montgomery County Planning Department has launched a new interactive online tool that will allow residents and property owners in the Montgomery Hills and Forest Glen communities to comment on the Forest Glen/Montgomery Hills Sector Plan.

The MCReactMap can be accessed via a computer or smart phone to comment, raise concerns and answer planners’ questions, suggest improvements, and agree or disagree with other comments and ideas.

Users can click pins on the map to answer questions about different neighborhoods in the planning area.

Beginning next week, residents and visitors to the plan area will start seeing questions posted on bus shelters along Georgia Avenue and around the Forest Glen Metro Station to answer on the MCReactMap, and other prompts will be posted throughout the area, according to a department press release.

Planners will collect all the feedback provided and use it as they draft preliminary recommendations for the sector plan.

The planning process was launched last fall to reevaluate “land uses, transportation strategies and redevelopment along the Georgia Avenue corridor as well as offering recommendations to improve the area’s pedestrian and bicycle accessibility, connectivity and safety. The plan also looks to protect and enhance existing residential neighborhoods while balancing the region’s evolving traffic demands,” according to the department.

The schedule calls for preliminary recommendations to be released this fall, and a first draft of the plan submitted to the Planning Board for review and revisions in the spring of 2019. The approved Planning Board draft is scheduled to be sent the County Council and the county executive for their approval in fall 2019.
