County Police Release Surveillance Video in Sunday Shooting

County police have released surveillance video of possible suspects as they continue to investigate a shooting on Ellsworth Drive on Jan. 5.

Detectives from the 3rd District Investigative Section are asking for the public’s help to identify those believed to have been involved in the incident, which police say does not appear to be random.

“The investigation thus far has determined that two groups of males, believed to be teenagers and young adults, encountered one another in the area of 933 Ellsworth Drive; the victim was with one of the groups,” an updated report says. “The groups became involved in a verbal altercation and during this dispute, one of the suspects from the opposing group produced a firearm and shot the victim.”

An individual who was part of the victim’s group also produced a firearm, exchanging multiple rounds of gunfire with the first shooter. No further injuries were reported, however.

A 15-year-old male was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The department asks anyone who has information about this incident to call the 3rd District Investigative Section at 240.773.6870.
