The state’s Department of Aging has modified its Senior Call Check program to include call-ins to provide updates of pertinent information during the COVID-19 emergency.
Seniors can call 1.866.502.0560 from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday-Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. to be connected to updates and available resources.
The call check program was launched in January for residents 65 and older. It provides a daily phone call at a regularly scheduled time between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Seniors who opt into the program can choose a one-hour time block in which to receive the call, as well as an alternate person to contact.
If the enrollee does not answer, two more calls will be placed. If those calls are not answered, the alternate will be contacted and asked to check on the participant.
Finally, if the alternate can’t be reached, the state will contact the local non-emergency service for a check.
The daily phone call recording also will include information, updates and relevant resources during the COVID-19 emergency.
