MC 101/110 – AVID Media Composer Fundamentals I and II

  • This 5 day in-person course at Docs In Progress combines MC 101 and MC 110 to provide the foundation for the AVID Media Composer User Certification Exam. The class is taught using Avid’s authorized curriculum and a certified instructor to ensure the highest level of professionalism in training.
    The course MC 101 – Media Composer Fundamentals I, is the first step in achieving confidence and efficiency with Avid Media Composer, the non-linear film/video editing application used in most movie and television productions. Along with its counterpart, MC 110 – Media Composer Fundamentals II, this course provides the foundation for Media Composer User Certification.
    The course MC 110 – Media Composer Fundamentals II, along long with its counterpart, MC 101 – Media Composer Fundamentals I, provides the foundation for Media Composer User Certification. Upon successful completion of the combined courses, participants will be eligible to take the Certification Exam.
    Access to a computer lab with AVID editing system will be provided.
    LOCATION
    Docs In Progress, 8560 Second Avenue, Suite 113 Silver Spring, MD 20910. Docs In Progress is located on the ground level of the Alexander House. The entrance of Docs In Progress is on Apple Ave.
    TEACHING ARTIST
    G.T. Keplinger is Professor at Stevenson University in the Film & Moving Image Department where he teaches a wide variety of classes focusing mainly on editing, sound design, broadcast production, and film/video production. G.T. has been teaching Avid editing for more than 20 years and has been an Avid Certified Instructor since 2013 with current certifications in Media Composer and Pro Tools.
    SAFETY GUIDELINES
    This class is held in person at Docs in Progress. The safety of participants and staff remains the top priority for Docs In Progress. Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination of workshop participants, the teaching artist and staff is required. Masks are not required. Participants, teaching artist and staff are encouraged to be respectful of an individual’s preference to wear or not wear a mask.
