Fort Reno Historic Exhibit Tour
April 1 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
FreeAn exhibit showcasing the history of Fort Reno, Reno City, and the Chesapeake House has been installed in the windows of Pepco’s Harrison Substation Window Gallery. If you haven’t seen it yet, take a few minutes to stop by and read about the history of the neighborhood. In April and May, historian Neil Flanagan and other neighborhood experts will provide two facilitated tours of the exhibit.
The exhibit features content researched by Jackson-Reed High School students and faculty, and showcases the history of Fort Reno, including the story of Reno City, a Black community dismantled to make way for Alice Deal Middle School; a look back at the Fort Reno concert series; and the importance of Chesapeake House to the city’s punk music heritage and as a place for young people to gather and create.
When: The exhibit is open all the time! Facilitated tours will be held April 1 and May 6, 10 am.
Where: Pepco Harrison Street Substation, 5210 Wisconsin Avenue NW.
