Crisis Intervention in Montgomery County: Is Calling the Police Always the Best Idea?
May 17 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pmFree
When crises arise, a number of us do what is most familiar – call the police – rather than what is most effective – mobilize resources with specialized expertise in this area. Yet the traditional approach can be detrimental to many, especially those with drug use or mental health concerns. What is Montgomery County doing to solve this problem? the League of Women Voters of Montgomery County has gathered expert panelists from the community to discuss this question for the next installment of our Trending Topics public webinar series. Panelists include Bernice Mireku-North, co-chair of the county’s Reimagining Public Safety Task Force; Rolando Santiago, chief of Montgomery County DHHS Behavioral Health and Crisis Services; and Cari Cho, CEO of Cornerstone Montgomery. A Q&A will follow the presentations. The event will be live streamed on YouTube and archived on the League’s channel.
