DC Fencers Club (DCFC) offers weekday and Saturday classes to introduce young people to the Olympic sport of fencing.
Modern fencing is an Olympic sport with roots in European swordfighting of centuries past. Today, fencing is a competitive sport of strategy, finesse, skill, and endurance. Fencing offers children and teens a positive physical activity, and teaches young people life skills such as confidence, focus, decisionmaking, and respect.
In beginner fencing classes, students learn the fundamentals with games, exercises, footwork, and bouting with fellow novice fencers. We provide the fencing uniforms and gear. DC Fencers Club offers fencing opportunities for children, teens, and adults interested in fencing in Maryland, DC and North Virginia metropolitan areas.
DC Fencers Club is a dedicated fencing facility in the Forest Glen neighborhood of Silver Spring, Maryland, minutes from the Georgia Avenue exit off the Beltway. Our coaches have consistently produced fencers who compete at the national and international level. Among them, Amanda Sirico, U.S. Team World Champion, taught by DCFC Head Coach Janusz Smolenski.
