About three dozen restaurants are expected to participate in the third annual Silver Spring-Takoma Park Restaurant Week Sept. 5-10.
Councilmember Tom Hucker (D-District 5) spearheaded the local promotional effort in 2015. He will host a kickoff event for this year’s week at Republic at 6939 Laurel Ave. in Takoma Park Tuesday from 6-7:30 p.m.
During the week, participating restaurants will offer two- and three-course lunches for $12 and $17, respectively. Two- and three-course dinners will cost $17 and $27.
“Silver Spring-Takoma Park Restaurant Week is a six-day culinary celebration highlighting the variety of dining options in the area,” said Hucker in a press release. “The participating restaurants embody the diversity of our community and offer cuisines from America and around the world, including Mexico, Ethiopia, China, Korea, Cuba and the Middle East. The affordable prices provide a great incentive to come to Silver Spring and Takoma Park for the first time or for regular diners to try something new.”
“I love restaurant week,” added Jennifer Meltzer, general manager and co-owner of All Set Restaurant & Bar in downtown Silver Spring, which also participated in 2015 and 2016. “It’s great for the staff and the guests, it establishes a good sort of social culture in the area and it shows a great community spirit.”
