Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department’s 3rd District are investigating the armed robbery of a male that occurred in downtown Silver Spring. MCPD is releasing a video of the incident captured by the victim’s dashcam and is seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

Construction on a planned $10 million renovation of the Downtown Silver Spring development is underway, with a new elevator installation next to the entrance to the former Eggspectation location. The county’s Alcohol Beverage Services store in the White Oak Shopping Center at 11239 New Hampshire Ave. has temporarily closed after an employee tested positive for COVID-19, the department announced. ABS learned about the positive test on Saturday, Dec. 19 and the store closed. The employee’s last day at work was Dec. 17.
