Business, COVID News Lead Source’s Top 10 Most Read of 2020

Unlike previous years, when the Top 10 most-read stories on the Source was dominated by business-related articles, 2020’s list is more of a mixed bag. There is still a heavy emphasis on business posts, as COVID-19 intruded into the list like it did virtually everything else from March to the present. Which is exactly what affected the most-read pieces of the year.

White Oak ABS Store Reopens

The county’s Alcohol Beverage Services store in the White Oak Shopping Center at 11239 New Hampshire Ave. reopened yesterday, the department announced. The store temporarily closed after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.

Suspect Charged in Ellsworth Place Robbery, Unrelated Carjacking

Detectives from the 3rd District Investigative Section have arrested and charged Ezekiel David Harris-Goff, age 18, in an armed robbery Dec. 1 in Ellsworth Place Mall. In addition, Harris-Goff, of an unconfirmed address, has been charged in an unrelated armed carjacking that took place Nov. 2 on 16th Street in Silver Spring.

District 20 Legislators to Sponsor Eviction Protection Bill

Two state legislators from District 20 revealed plans yesterday to introduce legislation that would help protect tenants struggling with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Sen. Will Smith (D) and Del. Jheanelle Wilkins (D) will be the lead sponsors of the COVID-19 Eviction Relief Act in the 2021 session of the state legislature.
