Police Investigating Armed Robbery of Hillandale Metro by T-Mobile Store; Video Released

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department’s Major Crimes Division that are investigating a November 12 armed robbery of a Hillandale Metro by T-Mobile store have released surveillance video of the incident, and are asking anyone with information about this robbery or suspect to come forward to the MCPD.

AAHP EC Offering COVID-19 Testing Program Targeting African Americans

The African American Health Program Executive Committee recently launched a free COVID-19 testing program targeting the county’s African American residents, the committee announced. The targeted COVID-19 response program, with the tagline “Don’t Stress. Take the Test.” is offered a various drive-through locations around the county and also includes need-based wellness services.

Silver Spring Chamber Joins Effort to Oppose Tax on Digital Advertising Revenues

The Greater Silver Spring Chamber of Commerce has joined a coalition of businesses and organizations to oppose any attempt to implement a tax on digital ad revenues in the 2021 Maryland General Assembly. “We opposed this last year in the General Assembly because we felt that, as they had said, it would be a tax not just on the people accepting advertising but also on small businesses,” said Jane Redicker, GSSCC president and CEO.

Guitar Center Plans to File for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

California-based Guitar Center plans to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, according to the company. The plan was revealed as part of a press release announcing a Restructuring Support Agreement with creditors that includes a new $165 million equity investment. The company operates about 300 stores across the country, including seven in the Washington, D.C. area.

County Police Arrest, Charge Domestic Violence Suspect with Multiple Offenses

County police officers responding to a report of possible domestic violence arrested Charles Evans of Easley Street and charged him with multiple offenses. The incident occurred at about 4:20 p.m. on Nov. 12 at an apartment building in the 800 block of Easley when a witness reported seeing a woman with a black eye who wanted to use a phone, and a man who appeared to be looking for her.
