Barclay Joins Arts on the Block in Management Role

Former county school Board of Education member Christopher Barclay has joined Arts on the Block in the newly created position of operations director, the organization has announced. Barclay, who also served on AOB’s board of directors, will lead AOB’s upcoming move into the Silver Spring Library, scheduled for next year, as well as the expansion of the group’s studio and community program spaces. Nonprofit Offered Weekend Gift-Wrapping Service

Silver Spring Timebank members provided free gift wrapping on Dec. 9 at Loyalty Bookstore, a pop-up bookstore on Ellsworth Drive in downtown Silver Spring. SSTB is a timebank in which people exchange their services for hours of credit that are “banked” so they can use the credit later for other services they may need. No cash is exchanged. However, the timebank has expenses for special activities and for supplies such as the wrapping paper used at this event, so donations rom events such as these are always welcome.  Members enjoyed doing the wrapping as a service to the community...

Pennyworth Shop to Open Two More Days on Bonifant

Pennyworth Thrift Shop will be open for two more shopping days before shutting down in preparation for an eventual move to the basement of Grace House on the grounds of Grace Episcopal Church at 1607 Grace Church Rd. The shop at 949 Bonifant St. will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 and again on Saturday, Dec. 15. Everything in the store will be sold for $1 on those two days. Flying V Theatre Company Joins Theatre Consortium
