Highwood Theatre invites auditions for new year-long program

The course is described as a “conservatory-style program designed to offer an intensive training experience for performers in grades 7-12,” according to a press release. The program starts in September and will run through the performances scheduled for June 2018. ArtStream moving office from Silver Spring to Chevy Chase

ArtStream, Inc., a Silver Spring-based, performance-focused organization, is moving its administrative office from 620 Pershing Dr. to Chevy Chase. The principal reason for the move, a staffer told Source of the Spring, is that the current office, located on a the second floor of a building the group shares with Lumina Theatre, is not accessible to people with disabilities, the organization’s primary constituents. Local union offers culinary training in former Progress Place

Local 23 of the international labor union UNITE HERE is opening a culinary training kitchen for members at 3210 Colonial Lane, the former location of Progress Place. The union, which is leasing space from owner Washington Property Company, will use the commercial kitchen space for a nonprofit training program offered by Service Workers Training & Education Partnership.
