Phone Scam Targeting Residents, Offering Affordable Health Insurance

Image by Alachua County on Flickr. Maryland residents are being targeted by a phone scam offering affordable health insurance plans, according to the Maryland Health Connection. The Connection, the state exchange for health insurance plans commonly referred to as “Obamacare,” warns that the calls begin with a robocall before switching to a live person purporting to be an enrollment agent. The agent claims to be able to enroll consumers in $199 plans outside of the annual open enrollment period and with no “qualifying life event,” such as marriage, having a child or losing other coverage. With Public’s Help, Police Identify, Arrest Two Robbery Suspects

With help from the public’s tips, county detectives have identified and arrested two of the three suspects in a July 27 robbery at Esther’s Beauty Salon/Supplies at 9309 Georgia Ave., according to a press release. Montgomery County detectives are looking for the public’s help to identify three suspects in a robbery and assault in downtown Silver Spring, according to a press release. Police Release Video, Partial Transcript from White Shooting Investigation
