Kaldi’s Social House rooftop getting completely new enclosure

Gas station closes to prepare for hotel construction

Photo by David Lay The gas station at the corner of Georgia Avenue and Colesville Road closed last week in preparation for construction of a new Residence Inn. The final site plans were approved in December, according to Timothy Eden, managing director of Starr Capital LLC. The company is overseeing the project for a partnership of investors who will own the building. “We’re hoping to break ground in the second quarter of this year,” he said. Purple Line work to affect traffic on Wayne Avenue next week

Large trailers will be delivering the components of a tower construction crane that will be erected at the site of the station, where a tunnel will be built. Appeals court overturns decision, Purple Line construction can continue

Construction on the Purple Line can continue uninterrupted following a court ruling today by a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. The Washington Post reports that the panel overturned a 2016 order by U.S. District Court Judge Richard Leon requiring that the state needed to study the effects of Metro’s ridership decline on projections of the number of Purple Line users. Red Line to temporarily close between Silver Spring and Fort Totten

Graphic from WMATA Red Line trains will not operate between Silver Spring and Fort Totten for 16 days beginning Saturday, Nov. 25. During that time, the Takoma station, all of its parking lots and metered spaces will be closed. Limited free shuttle service will run between the three stations.
