Reduce any library fines today

Photo of the Silver Spring branch of the county library from Wikipedia. Today is the last day borrowers can reduce any Montgomery County library fines they may have during Food for Fines 2016. Each canned good or non-perishable food item delivered to the any library branch will reduce fines or hold fees by $1. The food will be donated to the Manna Food Center. Of particular interest are shelf-stable foods such as canned fruits, vegetables and meats, dried beans, brown rice, quinoa, low sugar cereals, baby food, formula, and vegetarian items. Same-day early voter registration option available

Early voting photo from Wikipedia. Even if you haven’t registered to vote yet, you can still participate in early voting, which begins Oct. 27, according to a Board of Elections press release. Anyone with a valid Maryland driver’s license or MVA-issued photo ID, and proof of residency can register at an early voting site and vote that same day. You must take advantage of this opportunity during early voting; it will not be an option on Election Day Nov. 8. The early voting period runs through Nov. 3. Vote by mail option available for November election

Vote by mail applications are available from the Montgomery County Board of Elections for those who prefer this option for the November election. Registered voters are eligible to vote by mail as long as they have a Maryland driver’s license or MVA-issued ID card. This will become the voter’s official ballot and anyone choosing this option will not be able to vote at the polls on Election Day on Nov. 8, or during early voting, which is Oct. 27 – Nov. 3. Need Event Space? Look to the Silver Spring Civic Building

Community groups, non-profit organizations and other entities looking for affordable spaces to hold meetings or other events are increasingly looking at the Silver Spring Civic Building to meet their needs.
