Jerry’s Subs and Pizza Opens on Colesville Road

Jerry’s Subs and Pizza has opened a new location at 8517 Colesville Rd. in downtown Silver Spring. The local chain was founded in Wheaton in 1954 and now has its corporate offices in Gaithersburg. Its outlets specialize in various types of cheesesteaks and pizzas, which it advertises as “authentic New York style.” Jerry’s menu also includes subs, salads, side dishes such as fries, fried mozzarella sticks, fried jalapenos, and other items for in-store, pickup or delivery (at participating locations). Scion, Nainai’s Closed; Unclear if Closings are Permanent

Scion Restaurant on East-West Highway and its sister outlet, Nainai’s Noodle & Dumpling Bar, have closed, according to a sign posted several days ago on Scion’s door. It’s not clear if the closings are temporary or permanent. Calls to each restaurant’s phone number are sent to a message that the numbers are “temporarily disconnected.” The original Scion, opened by sisters Joanne and Julie Liu in Dupont Circle in 2009, was closed down in August of last year. PJ’s Coffee Now Open in Silver Spring

PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans is now open at its 8621 Georgia Ave. location in the ground floor of Core Apartments. The PJ’s menu includes a variety of iced, frozen, hot, cold brew, and nitro-infused coffees, along with teas, smoothies, and breakfast sandwiches and pastries (but no beignets—sorry). Permit Issued to Chase Bank for Georgia Avenue Location

A building permit has been issued to JPMorgan Chase Bank for interior alterations as the company apparently prepares to open a branch at 8435 Georgia Ave. Chase Bank is the U.S. consumer and commercial banking business of the parent company, JPMorgan Chase & Co., offering personal banking, credit cards, mortgages, auto financing, investment advice, small business loans and payment processing. The work is being done at the former location of La Madeleine, which closed in April 2017 four years after opening. A Texas transplant soon will open a specialty cake store at 9462 Georgia Ave. in the Seminary Place Shopping Center.
