Paisano’s Pizza on Georgia Avenue Has Closed

Multiple tipsters are reporting that Paisano’s Pizza at 8213 Georgia Ave. has closed, apparently for good. The Virginia-based chain of about 40 restaurants opened the Silver Spring outlet in May 2018. However, the operators of the local location had run into financial trouble even before opening, being sued for nonpayment of rent totaling about $71,000. Another eviction notice was reported to the Source a few months ago. “Fine-Casual” Mexican Restaurant Opens in Takoma Park

Cielo Rojo, a “fine-casual” restaurant specializing in Mexican cuisine, has opened at 7056 Carroll Ave. Carolina McCandless, a Takoma Park native (her parents own Amano), is director of operations while her husband, David Perez, is the chef. New Bakery Will Hold Grand Opening Celebrations

Nothing Bundt Cakes, a new bakery in the Seminary Place Shopping Center, will hold its grand opening celebrations beginning Jan. 23 and culminating in a family event on Saturday, Jan. 26. Tomorrow at 4 p.m., representatives of the Greater Silver Spring Chamber of Commerce will join owner Katheryn Hoerster for a ribbon cutting. As part of the celebration, the bakery will donate 20 percent of its sales on Friday, Jan. 25 to Community Bridges. New Restaurant/Bar to Feature Afro-Caribbean Cuisine

A native of Liberia plans to open a restaurant/bar featuring Afro-Caribbean cuisine at 8402 Georgia Ave., the former location of Lina’s Diner and Bar, which closed in November. Grace Nwaeze, doing business under the name of C&G Group LLC, will open The Republic Garden and has applied for a Class B Beer, Wine and Liquor license for sales on the premises, according to an application on file with the Board of License Commissioners.
