Medical marijuana dispensary to open on Fenton Street

Chicago-based Green Thumb Industries plans to open Rise Silver Spring at 7900 Fenton St., the site of the former Banner Glass Inc., according to Jeff Goldman, one of the company’s founding partners and vice president of communications. “Everyone’s listening to what the growers are saying will be available, and they’re hoping for November product,” Goldman said. “We’re hopeful for early November inspections so we’ll be ready to operate.” Security will be a big...

Local entrepreneurs plan brewery, beer garden in Silver Spring

Two local entrepreneurs have signed a letter of intent to lease 10,000 square feet of space for a brewery in downtown Silver Spring at 8401 Colesville Rd. Christian Layke and Brett A. Robison plan to open Parallel World Brewing Co., which will include a taproom, production facilities and an outdoor beer garden on the plaza level of the building. Community kitchen to give small entrepreneurs a boost

City Taste restaurant opening today

Photo by Mike Diegel. City Taste Asian Cuisine opens today at 930 Wayne Ave., on the ground floor of The Crescent condominiums, featuring up to 50 percent off sushi rolls. The restaurant is dine-in and carryout and offers sushi, sashimi, Chinese and Thai dishes. The extensive menu lists 70 sushi rolls alone. Other choices include teriyaki, hibachi and tempura selections, noodle dishes including pad Thai, Thai curry choices, many of the familiar Chinese dishes like General Tso’s chicken, Hunan and Szechuan entrees, and vegetarian options.
