Construction activity is happening at the former home of Bombay Gaylord, above the original Quarry House Tavern location at 8401 Georgia Avenue.

Though the construction seems to be shrouded in secrecy (no permits are posted in any of the windows), one worker told us he thinks it will be a nightclub, with a possible March opening date.

Quarry House’s last Facebook post in June indicated construction is still underway:

We're still under construction at our original location. But, hey, we're definitely going back in the basement, don't worry. We'll report back soon as we have an opening date, I swear.

“(We) had some setbacks with utility companies and now waiting on Washington Gas to perform some work. Chugging ahead slowly but steadily,” said owner Jackie Greenbaum in an email to Source of the Spring last July.

We’re also hearing scuttlebutt of a possible reopening of Adega Wine Cellars, which closed suddenly last February.
