Fenton Street Market to host pop-up African marketplace during AFI festival

Fenton Street Market will host a pop-up African marketplace tomorrow at AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center in conjunction with AFI’s New African Film Festival, which opened yesterday. The marketplace will be open from 2-7:30 p.m. in the atrium lobby. County library system holds first comic convention

A steady stream of children, teens and adults visited the Silver Spring Library last Saturday afternoon as the county’s library system hosted its first comic convention, MoComCon. Exhibits, activities and events were held on three floors of the building, including game demonstrations, a virtual reality station, crafts, face painting, a room where gamers could play MInecraft and a selfie machine. A host of characters are expected to take over the Silver Spring Library Jan. 21 when the county’s library system hosts its first comic convention, MoComCon.
